A Note from Mike in Oberlin, Ohio . . .

From a Cloudy Nights post on 3/30/19, Mike says:

Added an altitude stop to my LB. When I bought the base kit from Dobstuff
I had the uprights made a bit higher than standard so if you weren’t paying attention
it could sometimes get away from you and end up pointing at the ground. I didn’t really
like the idea of side loading wood screws so kinda over-engineered it. Should be
OK, it shouldn’t get used much anyway. Smoked lexan, like the EP tray.

Mike built his Dobstuff "Lightbridge" kit in December 2017.

An Upper Tube Assembly for Joe's 12" Truss . . .

The UTA for Joe's 12" telescope is coming together. I need to
install the focuser and finder boards and baffling.

A 12.5" Mirror Cell for Michael . . .

A 6-point flotation mirror cell for Michael in Ashford, Alabama
For a "round telescope tube". These cells are designed with and
optimized with the Plop software.

Large collimation knobs make it easy to adjust.

Jim's 8" Telescope -- Completed . . .

Jim's 8" rocker box has an oversize base for his equatorial
platform. Both of his telescopes will fit just right.

Note the strings, Moonlite focuser, Rigel finder and
Easy Transport Telescope option.

A little more detail of the spider and focuser. The OTA
comes in at just 24.5#.

Tyson's 6" and Custom Rocker Box . . .

Tyson, who lives in le duc, Alberta Canada and his
newly completed dobstuff rocker box. His Taiahashi
MT-160 looks great and easy to use.

Issac Newton's Telescope . . .

My "new" telescope -- Issac Newton's replica reflector.

Jim's 8" OTA . . .

The Moonlite focuser and curved-vane spider
are looking great here. Nice hardware.

Note the Easy Transport Telescope option.
The struts are 18" long with an overall
length of 36". This 8" Zambuto has a
40" focal length. Great!!

Jim 8" with Zambuto Primary . . .

Top ring with spider and Moonlite focuser. The
OTA should be "about" 38-inches long.
A beautiful primary mirror on a 6-point flotation mirror cell.

Large knobs help during collimation.

All of my telescopes include a custom mirror cover.

Jim's 8" -- A Mirror Cell . . .

Larger knobs on the collimation adjustment screws make for an
easier adjustment and look better too!!

Even with a small 8" primary  optics, one that is 7/8" thick like Jim's mirror,
it's better to have a flotation mirror cell. This 6-point cell is
designed and optimized with Plop.

A 8" String-Strut for Jim . . .

Jim's 8" string-strut rocker box sides and alt bearings.
Jim's 8" OTA rings for his 8" "Zambuto" telescope underway.
Once completed, the telescope will look like this example. Note the
intermediate ring for the Easy Transport Telescope option.

Kevin himself -- nice!!

And More on Kevin's Rocker Box . . .

Closer to completion, Kevin's custom rocker box for his 10"
telescope is in the final stages of construction.

Tyson's Kit is Completed . . .

All set to package and ship is Tyson's rocker-box kit
for his solid tube telescope.

After finishing the wood with color and/or
varnish, the rocker box will take shape.

Tyson lives in Canada.

I Thought These Were Kinda Neat . . .

And there is an observatory on the Moon (Lick Observatory).
There IS also basketball on the moon.
